Women's History Month-Jochebed

In observance of Women’s History Month, I want to acknowledge Jochebed, Moses’s birth mother. She was also the mother of Miriam & Aaron.

In my opinion, being a mother is one of the toughest jobs in the world, especially in today’s time and if you have to parent alone.

I applaud Jochebed  for her selflessness, wittiness and faith. She didn’t allow her love for her son to smother his potential. She didn’t allow her uncertainty of his future to overshadow the possibility of his survival. She simply opened her hands as well as her heart and LET GO.

Not only did Moses survive but God fixed it in a way that only He could. Jochebed was hired to nurse her son until he was of a certain age, which allowed her more time with him in addition to the finances. Long story short, Moses became one of the most important figures in history.

Nurture is what us women do naturally. I encourage us all to seek God’s guidance as it pertains to our children. Momma bears are known to go to the end of the earth to protect theirs. But, let’s not be so in the way that we leave no room for God to work within our children’s lives.

They were His before they were ours.
